My friend Anna and I went to a very fashionable cafe and drank juice out of fancy glasses. There are some extremely wealthy people in Moscow and walking around in some neighborhoods feels like being on a reality show about the super rich. For my car lovers in the class, I see at least one Ferrari, Lamborghini or Bugatti every day. I have seen two Maybachs just this week. Those cost about $200,00 each! As you all know, I don't even have a car, so I can't imagine what a $200,000 car must be like! I even walked through a very fancy clothing store where they charge about $2.00 a person just to use the bathroom!
I get around on the metro (subway), which is amazing! About 12 million people live in Moscow, and during rush hour (the time when most people are going to work or coming home from work) it can get really, REALLY crowded. But people are quite polite despite the crowding. During the less busy times of day a new train comes every 2 minutes or so. During rush hour, however, a new train comes every minute! That means you never have to wait longer than two minutes for the metro. That is pretty cool!
I did some sightseeing over the week and photographed Zirex in front of one incredible play structure and a lot of old buildings. I promise I'll take some more fun photos of him this week! I had to take at least one food picture, of course. Below are some fancy blinchiki (thin pancakes that come with different fillings). I also took a photo of a wall of piroshki at a grocery store. Piroshki is delicious bread with all kinds of different fillings. Both blinchiki and piroshki can have sweet fillings (e.g. Jam, honey, fruit) or savory fillings (e.g. Cabbage, potato, meat). They are absolutely delicious and available just about everywhere. I've been eating A LOT of them :)
Oh, I also found a copy of George's Marvelous Medicine in Russian! I took a photo of that too, which is below.
That's all for now! I'll try to take Zirex to a museum or two this week for you and will make sure to take a few more food pictures. Please let me know in the comments if there is anything special you would like to see! I want this to be interesting for you, so I'll do my best to make it happen. Maybe the inside of a crowded metro? Maybe more churches, fancy cars, parks, or people? Let me know!
Hugs from Russia!
